A friend of mine posted the following Facebook status:

I think Steam is using up too much memory on my computer, that’s why it’s so slow. Anyone got any ideas to help me out here? I can’t take waiting 15 minutes for a single page to load anymore!

My response:

I think no. It’s not Steam. Here’s what you do:

-Step 1-

XP: Click Start, click Run.

Vista/7: Click Start Orb. Type Run. Hit enter.

-Rest of the Steps-

Type “msconfig”

Hit enter.

Click “Selective Startup”

Go to the “Startup” tab.

Uncheck ANY of that CRAP you don’t need running ALL THE TIME.

Restart computer.
